Solar Power
Ross Electric supports our customer with installations
that take advantage of the abundant energy provided by the sun.
Some of our solar installations include:
- Sign lighting. We installed a solar powered sign
lighting system for the Town of Monument, Colorado. Their sign is located
along Interstate-25, and needed attractive lighting to announce the presence
of the town. The problem was that there was no reasonably close power source.
So Ross Electric provided a complete solar powered solution. This included the
solar collection system, batteries, lighting, wiring and a vandal-resistant
enclosure for the electronics.
- Scada telemetry panel. One of our water district
customers needed to accurately monitor the level in a water storage tank, and
convey this information to the Scada master control panel. Our solution was to
relocate one of their existing Scada remote terminal units (RTU) to the new
tank facility. We then provided a solar system with battery backup to provide
a power source. We upgraded the system with an AC inverter to power the 120V
control panel. The district avoided the high cost of bringing in a utility
power source, and also avoided paying any electric utility bills for years.
